What Is A Submersible Water Pump?

A submersible water pump is, just as the name suggests, a pump that has been designed to be submerged in water in order to drain areas of unwanted water. These pumps are often more effective at draining large bodies of water than other pumps placed outside of the water as they do not need to work against gravity, improving flow rates and more efficient draining.

What Can It Be Used For?

The maximum depth that a submersible pump can be submerged in will depend on the IP rating that it holds – as well as the type of material the product is made off too. An IP rating is a certification given to electrical products that reflect exactly how waterproof a product is whether it can withstand a splash or full submersion. So of course, with submersible water pumps very nature is to be submerged in water, it is important that you look for a pump that has an adequate IP rating.

How Quickly Can They Drain Water?

To work out how quickly your pump will be able to drain you will need to look at the flow rate as this will in essence dictate how much water your pump is capable of moving and how quickly – this is usually presented as litres per hour. So, the more powerful the motor and the higher the flow rate the quicker you will be able to move larger bodies of water.

What Hose Should I Use?
