What Is A Submersible Water Pump?
A submersible water pump is, just as the name suggests, a pump that has been designed to be submerged in water in order to drain areas of unwanted water. These pumps are often more effective at draining large bodies of water than other pumps placed outside of the water as they do not need to work against gravity, improving flow rates and more efficient draining.
What Can It Be Used For?
Submersible pumps can be used for a wide range of tasks and are most commonly used for moving areas of standing water in pits, moving flood water from cellars and other rooms and they can also be used for draining swimming pools or hot tubs too!
Our range of submersible water pumps also use robust and hard-wearing copper motors that are capable of draining particles up to the size of 35mm, this means that it will not easily become blocked with debris that is often found in dirty water such as small stones and twigs.
How Deep Can They Be Submerged?
The maximum depth that a submersible pump can be submerged in will depend on the IP rating that it holds – as well as the type of material the product is made off too. An IP rating is a certification given to electrical products that reflect exactly how waterproof a product is whether it can withstand a splash or full submersion. So of course, with submersible water pumps very nature is to be submerged in water, it is important that you look for a pump that has an adequate IP rating.
All our 400w submersible water pumps come with an IPX8 rating this mean that they can be safely submerged to an impressive depth of 7m! This makes it an ideal choice for both domestic and professional use.
How Quickly Can They Drain Water?
To work out how quickly your pump will be able to drain you will need to look at the flow rate as this will in essence dictate how much water your pump is capable of moving and how quickly – this is usually presented as litres per hour. So, the more powerful the motor and the higher the flow rate the quicker you will be able to move larger bodies of water.
Despite these models housing only a 400w motor, however, they deliver exceptional performance capable of moving up to 8000L per hour. This means you get a high-powered performance without the need to use excessive amounts of energy making the 400w submersible pumps ideal for domestic use.
What Hose Should I Use?
It’s important before using your submersible water pump to always use a suitable hose pipe in order to direct the water. You need a hose pipe that is resilient so that it will not easily block or become damaged when passing debris this is why lay-flat hoses are one of the most popular choices. Luckily, we have the option to select a lay flat hose (available in 5 different sizes) to best suit your needs.
